What is ISUZU Forward?

Forward is a medium-duty truck. Since the first generation introduced in April 1970, it has continued evolution as Isuzu's signature model. The truck is powered by 120ps engine D500. This is the very first automatic shifting model as a medium- duty truck.

1975 was the debut year for the 2nd generation Forward. Along with the extensive features such as power steering, disk breaking system, and 160ps turbo engine model 6BD1, the truck caught the attention of the nation by the advertising word, "Alright! Forward".

In 1985, Forward introduced its 3rd generation model. The 4-lights design at the corner of the cabin is the characteristic of the model, and it is the first model that won the Japan Good Design Award. The 6HE1 intercooler engine loaded in the model reaches as high as 250ps.

In 1994, The 4th generation model was released. It's standard functions are power shifting, HSA -Hill Start Aid- , and its popular feature 'Smoother F', the clutchless manual system that was introduced by this model.

Since the first generation introduced in April 1970, up until the latest 5th generation, it has continued evolution as Isuzu's signature model. [Forward] means to [proceed] or [promote] so it's easy to imagine a vehicle with rich configuration and development in business.

Recent models are installed with exhaust break system that automatically generates brake force by closing the valve on the exhaust pipe. Also, the automatic speed controlling system, Cruise Control, is adopted. Furthermore, ABS (Anti-lock Breaking System) is equipped to improve the safety performance. Models installed with 'Smoother EX' enables better fuel efficiency, by specification such as automatic shifting, torque assistance, and shift changes without ever stepping on the clutch pedals. All these innovative features has made driving become less stressful even at a long-distance duty.

Appropriate models are available depending on the driving distance, such as 4-cylinder 4HK1 engines without the need of urea solution for short-distance transportation, while for medium or long distance, models with 6-cylinger 6HK1 engine could be found, which features high output and powerful braking.
